WYRDLING CONSPIRACIES

Conspiracy Name: Red Hat Society
Local Leader: Edith Kroker
Purpose: To locate and assist freshly created/returned Wyrdlings, provide shelter until Glamour settles, find jobs and homes for them so they can sustain themselves in society
Species Allowed: Wyrdlings and sympathetic individuals of any species.
Ranks: N/A
Initiation: A desire to help Wyrdlings is the only requirement
Summary: Founded in the 1960s, the Red Hat Society was responding to a need. They saw Wyrdlings, freshly returned, wandering the streets without a Glamour. Even when they could again look human, most Wyrdlings couldn't get jobs and slept in the streets. The Red Hats were a group of Wyrdling women, well placed in society and with money to spare, who set out to fix things. SInce that time, they have constantly struggled to find fresh Wyrdlings and help them re-join society.

Conspiracy Name: The Lawn-Art Irregulars
Local Leader: Bogie
Purpose: A self-proclaimed "Rogue Art Combine," they seek to raise awareness of the "inhuman condition" and push for "expansion of what it means to be human."
Species Allowed: Wyrdlings and Mortals, Mages/Werewolves (rarely)
Ranks: N/A
Initiation: Must present a "piece" of art for "critique" along with the petition for membership, if approved they are considered a full member
Summary: Originally a product of the 90s grunge movement and its connected art community, the Irregulars were formed from a collection of artistically minded Wyrdlings that had grown tired of hiding their nature from mortals. While safety and sanity made overt revelation of the supernatural to humanity, the Irregulars knew that careful exposures to "Wyrdness" would desensitize mortals and open their minds to such creatures. Thus, through their art they seek to "prepare" humanity for the exposure of supernaturals to the wider world. In the meantime, they build their own little communes and artistic communities where they can "live free" and drop their Glamour without fear from the "prepared" mortals that live there.

NEUTRAL CONSPIRACY

Conspiracy Name: The Accord
Local Leader: N/A
Purpose: A forum to air complaints and solve problems between the various supernatural groups in Portland
Species Allowed: One representative from each group (Mage, Vampire, Werewolf, Wyrdling, Mortal)
Ranks: Representatives -> Pages
Initiation: Elected by respective groups or brought in as a page (support staff) to a representative
Summary: The oldest mixed-species organization in the Portland area, the Accord was formed shortly after the founding of the city. Since 1853, the Accord has insisted that every significant supernatural entity in the Portland area elect a singe representative to sit at The Accord. At times, this single-representative system has caused problems as in-fighting within a group leads to both sides claiming "exclusive authority" to elect said representative, but in such cases The Accord itself chooses which competing faction has said authority or chooses a comprimise candidate.

Ultimately, the Accord is the "highest authority" for settling disputes in the Portland area. Officially, all factions (from the largest to the smallest) that have an interest in the Portland area is required to acknowlege the sovereignty of The Accord and respect its decisions. Only rarely does a group argue against The Accord's descisions and even then typicaly do so by voicing a formal complaint through The Accord itself. These five individuals and their support staff are respected and control much in Wyrd (i.e. Supernatural) Portland by largely leaving the various species and their factions to police and govern themselves. The Accord only exerts its full control when a group proves unable to control itself or when the interests of two groups conflict in a manner that will likely end in disruption of The Accord's sense of Order.
